Shades, Blinds & Drapes
Are your windows giving you what you want but aren’t looking their best? Are you wanting more out of your window treatment without them being sort of, blah? Here is what you need to know about the different window treatments and what options are out there…
SHADES
Shades are an effortless approach when wanting a window treatment. They are made with a solid sheet of material that is brought down and back up on a roller system that is concealed behind a valance. Since their initial popularity decades ago, they have come a long way. Shades used to be made of stiff vinyl and were not very versatile in how they operate or look. Now, thanks to improvements, they come in a variety of styles, colors, textures and patterns. Depending on the type of shade and material chosen, depends on the kind of light efficiency and privacy given. When the material of the shade has a tighter weave, less light is able to pass through and allows for less glare and more privacy. If the material has a looser weave, more light is able to pass through allowing more light in and less privacy.

Blinds
Blinds are one of the most common window treatments in a home. Even though they are highly functional, they are commonly seen as aesthetically unappealing. They are now made with synthetic materials that can look like sleek, faux wood, metal, or actual wood. They can be adjusted to offer customizable privacy and light control. It may not seem like it, but they are also energy efficient. They trap air against windows acting like insulation and this allows for easier heating or cooling of the space. Over the years, there have been concerns about the common cord that hangs that has become dangerous to children and pets. However, there are other operational options available. Blinds can now be cordless or motorized in order to put the worry away of any danger.

Drapery
Drapery is also very common for interiors. They allow a lot of versatility and are fully customizable to each space. They can elongate the wall they are placed on, add character to a space, or give the final touch to complete the design in a room. Even though they are highly attractive to a space, they are also very functional. They control the amount of light that comes in a space based on the material chosen for the drapes. They are durable; most can be washer and last a long time if taken care of. Drapery can give a space elegance while giving the functionality needed.
